Looks like Singapore isn't the only country with lousy, reticent and sullen sales staff.
There's this big debate about customer service here. It's been going on for ages and it'll never stop until customers get off their bloody high horses and quit thinking that because they're paying for something, therefore they OWN you.
If someone comes up to you, jabs a finger in your direction and says without preamble "where's the stock?" curtly, how would you react? As opposed to someone who's asked nicely with an "excuse me, but where is the stock?"
I have never done retail nor frontline service. But I've spent a decade in contact centres and servicing clients. Trust me, it's just as aggravating. I know the feeling well. I STILL believe great service is all about attitude. I do not believe it can be trained into someone. Work from the heart and over a short period of time, you'd have won over even your most rabidly bad-tempered customer.
I've walked the path, I've done it many times before.
Natural introvert, learned extrovert.
