Another WTF - actual lawsuits over Tsunami

Wow.
Some people are actually going to sue over the tsunami. I really have issues with that!

(Article quotes from Reuters)

U.S. and Austrian lawyers have filed a lawsuit demanding Thailand, U.S. forecasters and the French Accor group answer accusations they failed in a duty to warn populations hit by December's Tsunami disaster, a lawyer said Monday.
Wonderful. The tsunami is an act-of-god event and you're holding corporations responsible?

"Published reports emerged that upon receipt of the NOAA alert and other data, the seismological and oceanographic experts of Thailand spent more than one hour talking about what the risk may or may not have been, instead of immediately issuing a warning to their population," it said.

And where would you go with this hour's advance notice? Considering that all the countries involved were third world countries with less than effective road systems. Were would you run to? Helpcopter help? Medical evacuations? Lemme guess.... magic carpets!
Among the charges leveled against Accor, the owner of the Sofitel hotel chain, was failure to equip its luxury resort and spa in Khao Lak, Thailand with state-of-the-art
seismic detection and warning systems, despite its location "in an earthquake and tsunami fault zone."

Bullshit. None of the countries were really earthquake regions. Japan? Yes. Thailand? No.

Listen, buddy, the series of waves that erupted was HUGE. The earthquake that triggered it was MASSIVE. It came without warning, without mercy, and cut down everything, EVERYONE, in it's path. Mother nature doesn't seperate out the good and the bad, or the rich and the poor. Black, white, yellow, brown; it doesn't bloody matter!

Because I have the money, therefore I must sue? Must hold someone else accountable? Take a leaf out of the books from the people who've lost home, land, family! Sure, they might have never been as rich as you to begin with, but they're sure dealing with it a lot better!

Don't they say that Death is the ultimate leveller?
Buddy, you're gonna have to work real hard to impress him, methinks........
