Food cravings

Felt a little restless to-day. Plus, had craving for satay. Managed to rouse myself and The Sister enough to go for a walkie this evening.

We ended up on Fisherman's Wharf - this foodie place (what else is there in Singapore but food, eh?) about an hour's walk from my place.

Well, I say walk because normally, we walk there and take the scenic path along the beach. To-day, being the lazy asses that we were, we cabbed it. For all the luxury of a cab, though, we're both women. And we were both feeling lazy. And we both washed our hair before setting out. And we took our time to dress (me in shorts and a singlet. haha) So late dinner = almost 10PM. heh. But it was worth it. Turns out, The Sister had a craving too!

Believe it or not, we couldn't get the name right. Argh! Sambal fish became sambal fin became grilled sambal manta ray (fucking big fin Fiona! says she) before we got it right. Grilled sting ray. Come to think about it, I don't even know if it really IS sting ray. No matter. Good eats is good eats.

So The Sister's dinner arrived.

Mine followed suit very shortly thereafter.

We ordered 30 sticks of satay - I only managed 20 before bloating up like a balloon. Craving bloody fulfilled, children!

Funnily enough, an ex of mine once commented that he always wondered how I could get so ..... well.... enthusiastic .... about certain foods. I remember telling him, repeatedly, that I was as NOTHING compared to a true-blue, hard-core, Singaporean foodie. I guess where he came from, people weren't quite as passionate about their food.

Think I should give the MasterChief fair warning about my food cravings?
