I've always wondered about the Monarch Butterfly's migration. What a wonderous thing! So delicate and yet so bloody determined and driven. But that's Mother Nature for you.
It's one of the few things I think I would like to experience personally.
I'm quite glad they're not making their trip alone this year.

I grew up in northeast Texas, and the little town in which i lived was on the Monarchs' migratory route. Every year they would swarm the town for a day or two, and then move on. It was an amazing thing to see, for a kid. One year one of the butterflies landed on my shirt and wouldn't leave. After 2 days, when his friends were leaving, I stayed outside all day long trying to get him to go with them (I was 7). He wouldn't go. He stayed with me for 6 weeks before he died. I named him Charlie and my mother still has him preserved in a jar with flowers. I could never figure out why he stayed with me that way. He wasn't injured or anything. I remember feeling blessed.
This is on my list of "must-sees" as well. I think their arrival in Mexico coincides with their Dia de la Muerta holiday--another thing that has always fascinated me.
I'm new here--enjoying what I've read.
aw, Liafail, what a story. Blessed indeed!
Sophie, welcome to pop by any time. If you don't mind my swearing, though! haha :)
