Another campaign.
The Singaporean government just doesn't give up. The campaigns, quite frankly, are a mixed bag. Some worked, some didn't. Some were done cartoon style so no one gave a shit. Sometimes I feel that our policy planners are so removed from the common people that they deserve to be dunked head first into whatever gunky stuff they're planning for.
People, invariably expats, have asked if these campaigns were really needed. And I am always invariably firm in my answer. Yes. Singaporeans need to be taught. By and large, we are not blessed with a gracious, mature populace.
Singaporeans are overly dependant on the government to do things for them. People tend to assume that since they've paid for something, they own you. Local people are nasty to other local people. For crying out loud, we've had campaigns on childbirth, on speaking good english, to speaking good mandarin, to healthy eating. You name it, we've probably got a campaign for it.
But this one is a little more ridiculous than most. A campaign to wave to fellow motorists? Road courtesy?
Ain't gonna happen.

SOME people apparently need a campaign to FLUSH... ;-)
JimBob - yes, we have that too. Doesn't work.
