Holy crap - the man is still alive.
Richard Clayderman, upright and still tinkling the ivories? Man, I thought the guy was dead. He's been around for eons, apparently. AND still touring. He comes to mind because I've just seen in the papers that he's coming to Singapore. Again. For the, like, gazillionth time.
I was forced to play some of his pieces when I was doing piano lessons. Was classically trained until Grade 5, aged 14, after which I rebelled so violently that my parents gave up on me.
GO ME!
But back to Clayderman. I was forced to play his pieces when the teacher couldn't get me to sit still for Mozart, Beethovan and the like. Oy, the agony! I didn't like him then, and I don't like him still.
Actually, come to think about it, I'll listen to classical music only if it has strings. Or wind instruments. Never the piano. Just like religion, sex or politics, music is equally subjective.
The joys of being human, eh?
Natural introvert, learned extrovert.
