I need to get this off my chest.

Constantly amazed at how people, well educated people, have so little brains. I have always held true that in the Singaporean context, being acedemically gifted is not a good thing in our educational system. Rote learning and enforced memory lessons do not a good thinker make.

Take this woman who called in to-day. She called to inquiry on her sister's policies. Doesn't know the rationale of why said policies were bought. Does not have any policies with my comapny herself. Insisted to know why premiums are so high. Tried to pin me down for a confirmation on this, despite the fact that she knew nothing of the circumstances.

Hello? Premiums are so fucking high because your sister chose those particular combinations. No one forced her to purchase anything. We're not a sundry goods store, we're a bloody INSURANCE company. You want to know, then go bloody ask your sister!

What has this got to do with education, you say? Native english speakers from Singapore are a rarity. Those that speak well tend to be highly educated. Unfortunately, education does not = common sense.


Geez. Not by a bloody long shot........
