Eh?

I am all for a balance in life.

Stop to smell the roses, people say. And it is true. I have learnt that. I also agree that to-day's world is incredibly rushrush. But to have a "musical" piece which opens with a year and a half of silence? Isn't that just a tad pretentious?

The abandoned Buchardi church in Halberstadt, eastern Germany, is the venue for a mind-boggling 639-year-long performances of a piece of music by US experimental composer John Cage (1912-1992). Entitled "organ2/ASLSP" (or "As SLow aS Possible"), the performance began on September 5, 2001 and is scheduled to last until 2639.

The piece is supposed to speak out for people to "rediscover calm and slowness in today's fast-changing world". But I'd like my discoveries to be in MY life time, thank you very much. If it takes your family generations to learn peace and quiet, then I think you're a little beyond the normal boundaries of help.

Just my opinion, but damn.
