Fight?

I started a post last night, lost it to Blogger, then decided to bugger off to bed.

But I've been thinking about it all day.

I don't appreciate some of the blogs I've come across. Publishing weird anti-islamic stuff is not going to help matters. Sure you have freedom to publish anything you want. But shouldn't it be tempered with a healthy dose of responsibility? It isn't helping matters that you're inciting even more aggravation. Respect other people's beliefs. Just because you CAN doesn't mean that you SHOULD.

And you, on the other side, the rabid fundamentalist minority? Are you not just pepetuating a cycle? Aren't you proving the point? Aren't you giving the western press even more fodder? Didn't they Danish PM apologise? For a newspaper that wasn't under governmental control? YOu kick up an even bigger fuss. Is it not surprising, then, that he should refuse to order the paper to apologise? When someone offers you an olive branch, you take it. Lest the bugger get even more belligerent and decide to fight you on it (which is what's happening now)

I'm not going to ask : why can't we all get along?

Ain't gonna happen. World peace, my ass.
We're human. We have the immense propensity to fight, for some reason. We seem to live to destroy ourselves. This is but one fight that isn't going to die down easily. Even if it does, another will come along in time and the whole circle will start again.

But I WILL ask : can we try?
Can we try a little moderation? (where are the moderate muslims when you need'em?) Can we try a little respect for others? (where were the bloody newspaper editors? heh) Can we try for a little dignity, instead of acting like children?
