Idle ramblings - of holidays and bus taking

"This is like a holiday job for you, eh?"

Quipped by a co-worker of mine (hi SL!) as we had a smoke break together. We were chatting. I knew she was leaving. Didn't realise, though, that to-day would be our last day working. She walked me to my bus stop after work, I missed my bus, walked her to her apartment block not far away. GREAT chat along the way.

Isn't it alway the case? You get to know someone nice at work, and either you, or them, have to move away? Irony of life, one of a great many.

Ended up boarding a bus I *thought* went close to my home. Another holiday-like activity. Take a bus, see where it goes, decided to get off at the stop closest to my home. But I have to mention this bus ride, if only because the bus driver called out a loud and cheery "BYE BYE! GOOD NIGHT!" to each and every passenger who got down.

What a guy! We need more people like that!

Some passengers ignored him. What a damned pity. A woman gave him a nod. Another a half hearted wave. Singaporeans, I tell you, are by and large not used to being greeted on the street by strangers, let along the bus driver. Of course, like the weirdo character that I am, when it was my turn to depart I turned, waved, and gave back a loud, cheery THANK YOU!

The guy made my night, why shouldn't I make his?
