Overworked, underpaid.

Ach, got over my low mood but got plunged into work instead. Check this out. Sing along with me. You guys know the words.

Section manager decided that since us contract staff are able to work 44 hours per week, we're being asked to work until the 43rd hour and 59th minute. Anything more, we're eligible for OT pay and therefore, need to be coddled exactly along that line.

On the other hand, we have a bunch of wimps in training who, pulling a single sunday shift a month, decide that the company's abusing them. And have written a complaint letter to HR on said abuse. Even though THEY get OT pay.

This, in the middle of mailing out the yearly policyholder statement, 900K in volume. They need the help. The call volume is beyond crazy. The phone system died on us to-day. But ah! The ironies of life!

So, over the last 2 days, I've worked my extra hours and clocked in 193 calls taken on Mon, and 207 calls to-day. That. Is. A. Lot. Compare that with our daily targets of 90 calls per day. Yes, I am tired. And yes, my god-like powers of customer service are suffering.

Off tomorrow. I shall make it a point to do as LITTLE as possible.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.:) Work is just a necessary evil that most of us have to tolerate. Hope they don't work ya to hard.
