Abortion to be completed banned?

Wow.
First seen on
Richard's site, an article on how abortion is being banned.

I'm quite saddened by the fact that govt has seen fit to tabulate a bill on this. I AM pro-choice. Not as a quick fix to stupid sexual antics, no. But I do believe that this is something far, far too intimate for the government to even start dictating on.

(CNN) -- South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds signed a bill Monday that bans nearly all abortions in the state, legislation in direct conflict with the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in 1973. The new law defines life as originating "at the time of conception.".....

..... The bill signed by Rounds allows doctors to perform abortions only to save the lives of pregnant women, but even then encourages them to exercise "reasonable medical efforts" to both save mothers and continue pregnancies. Anyone who performs an abortion under any other circumstance -- even in a case of rape or incest -- can be charged with a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. The mother cannot be charged.

I am sure this is something to be watched in the years to come. Pro-choice groups will battle it to the bitter end. And this IS a very bitter topic.

And a tad too draconian for my tastes. :o

Well the right wing religious weenies in America are firmly in power. Now that the supreme court is stacked in there favor Roe vs Wade will be over turned and America will be a even worse place then it is now.

Peace

Greg, as an outsider, I find it hard to reconcile all that freedom of speech, religion, etc etc etc with articles like this.
