Sign of the times

I read this article, much like any article.

It's one of those "basic" ones : 3 young men are arrested and charged with the sexual assualt of an unconscious young woman on a pool table, which they taped. The men are guilty, obviously, eitherwise there would be no video. And they are convicted for 6 years each

And then slow thoughts emerged. Why pool table? It's one of the most uncomfortable places to have sex, because of the raised skirting. The surface is very hard, under the baize. What about the velvet? Doesn't that ruin the fabric? How they hell do people play pool after that? Any fluid of any kind, I thought, makes for a wretched surface to pot your balls. Heh. Only then did I think.... 6 years? Isn't that a bit too short?

Yes, I only get up-tight when it involves children because they, at least, are helpless. And animals, because those aren't just helpless, but voiceless too boot. A sign of a graceful, gracious, matured civilization is they manner in which they defenceless are treated.

I only feel sorry for the parents of the men, because they have to live with the shame. The men? Nope. it was a stupid thing to do. I don't think the girl is completely faultless either.


Oh well.
