Wrong place to pick and choose

I feel for this man. But only a little.

1st Lt. Ehren Watada, who joined the Army in March 2003, said he researched the reasons behind the U.S. involvement in Iraq and concluded the war is illegal and immoral. "We have violated American law," Watada said. "We can't break laws in order to fight terrorism."

Watada said he would be willing to serve in Afghanistan or elsewhere, but he said he believes intelligence on whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction was manipulated "to fit a policy that was already implemented prior to 9-11," and he cited "mistreatment of the Iraqi people," saying it was "a contradiction to the Army's own Law of Land Warfare."

Army officials said Watada's decision to publicly declare his intent to disobey orders "is a serious matter and could subject him to adverse action."

I feel for him, because his belief is so strong that he's willing to stand up for what you have faith in, and be willing to roll with the punches that you know are going to come your way.

However, he also took an oath to defend his country. He swore in, when he joined the Army. And any arm of any military service is not going to let you sit back and choose your battles.

That's the entire idea of a soldier. A military man. You go where they send you. Not for you to qustion why. It's called discipline and it's existance is highest in the military forces.

Yes, I can see why you're unpopular with your colleagues.

Being a ex military member and having served in combat I would convict this officer. I feel no sympathy. He may be right but as a officer it is his job to follow his orders from his Commander in Chief end of discussion.
I really think he is just scared to die and should be hung for being a coward. :)

Peace

Absolutely!
That's why I only feel for him a tad.

I had friends here who served their nation. The MasterChief *still* serves his nation.

I don't see why this bugger should be any different.
