Desperate?

But of course!

Singapore is on a drive to get its hard-working citizens to mix and mingle more often, introducing campaigns such as "Romancing Singapore" and offering financial incentives to encourage bigger families.

The island-state ranked 40th out of 41 countries in a survey on how frequently people have sex, according to the Durex Global Sex Survey published last December.

You push us to redevelop; learn new skills. You push us to play catch up; always new technology. You push us to upgrade! Reinvent! You cannot lag behind!

So is it any wonder that we, the new generation of Singaporeans,
aren't interested in having loads of children? Well, I say we.....but.... I've dropped out of their oh-so-desirable demographic group of skilled single professionals. However, been there done it, and I know the perils well.

The drive is for self sufficiency, I understand that completely. But your damned government propaganda succeded all too well and now we're stuck. Stuck because people of my generation are following your exhortations towards progress. There is no space in an ambitious couples' drive for more children when they're working so hard. One? Two? Enough to close shop! If you're lucky!

And don't talk about sexual prowess. Singaporeans, in gerenal, have none. But this is a special peeve of mine; sexuality and the asian mindset. I have oft ranted about this and I don't feel like flogging an old horse right about now.

All I can say is that Singaporeans deserve it.
