Heh, did I tell you I have seen Sweeney Todd?
If you haven't seen it, you should.
I don't know who the songsmith was (never heard of Stephen Sondheim prior to this) and I did not know Johnny Depp could sing (holy crap, the man has TIMBRE!!) but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
It's sad, amusing, bittersweet and outright funny at times. Alan Rickman is eminently watchable, and the plot's a riot. I especially like that all the loose ends I was wondering about were all tied neatly in the end.
Go watch :))

Very nice indeed. I still find myself humming "Joanna" and "A little priest".
Loved the gratuitous throat slittin.
*wa-hey!*
Og,
One day I will ask to hear you sing :)
TheSister,
Wahey is for the MacNafeegles! lol.
Heya. Sweeny is probably *the* classic broadway musical of the past 20 years (don't even talk to me about "cats"). Sondheim is flat-out brililant. There's a ton of Sweeny performances on YouTube featuring singers I feel are much better suited to the roles than Depp and Carter. Try this url for "My Friends" and some other bits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ5-vXOgrbM
This is George Hearn, the second Sweeny, and the guy who really put his stamp on the role. His "At last my arm is complete!" rates a solid 9.9 on the sphincter-factor.
Hope you dont mind my putting in my two cents!
