General perception

I laughed when I saw this :

“This is just like Pearl Harbor,” one of the men said.
The other asked, “What is Pearl Harbor?”
“That was when the Vietnamese dropped bombs in a harbor, and it started the Vietnam War,” the first man replied.
At that moment, Ms. Jacoby said, “I decided to write this book.”

This book being The Age of American Unreason and it was an article I came across that started it all..... good stuff.

And I regret to say that unlike the few educated ones I know of (see my blogroll!) and a personal friend or two, it sounds a lot like the general perception the rest of the world may have. Myself included, alas.

I wish I could say otherwise, though.

This sounds like an excellent book to read, but also rather depressing. Never has so much information been out there, yet
so many Americans are too lazy to learn. Very sad.

Cube,
Every country has their rubes, but not a lot of countries have that much visible pride. I guess that's one major reason why there's so much rancour. *wry grin* The rest of the world has a sort of love-hate relationship with the USA, I guess.

Mad,
Yes they did. Along with their donkey-pulled tanks lol.
