Choices choices choices

I'm seriously considering getting a notebook.

Oh, I could get a netbook and that would serve my surfing needs at work. But if I'm going to splurge, I should do a proper investment. At first glance, a netbook would be about $600 and I could get a dirtcheap notebook for 200 bucks more. But seriously, what would that make it then? A really expensive toy? Just to surf?

So now I'm doiong my research... and it's a bewildering array available. Oh boy :o

Now, I'm not a techie. In fact, my eyes WILL cross when I start reading specifications. But I don't have a choice. I don't want to blow $1500 on something that I can't use. Use, that is, for my games. lol. My StarCraft, and My Heros III. It's ironic that long after I've left the business world, I should now consider a noterbook. *shakes head* However, what looks good currently is the ASUS W90. But... I may not be able to afford it and apparently it weighs in at 5KG. Is that heavy? Yeah, it is.

Plus there's the fact that I have a weeks' leave coming up in Sept09 and I also want to go on another holiday.... so... holiday? notebook? holiday? notebook? My current payscale doesn't allow me to indulge in both at the same time. *wry grin*

Argh. My eyes are crossing just thinking about it!

PS - I'm a total novice here and comments/feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

For surfing and posting, a netbook is a good investment and will be for ages. A notebook for gaming is not such a hot idea. Get a desktop for gaming at home, and a netbook for reading/posting/surfing on the road etc.

Unless you have the budget for only one, having two, cheaper, specialized computers is a decent idea.
