I've been hearing a nightjar lately, from my room.
It calls on and off during the day time, which is quite peculiar as I thought they were, literally, nocturnal birds. I used to walk along sungei api api and would hear them at night. The walk itself is a little spooky, as it winds it's way along the mangrove swamp. But the nightjar calls? Ah, those I find quite soothing.
And as it turns out, they're quite cute too :o
Strangely, though, my neighbourhood doesn't really have habitat that I thought a nightjar would be comfortable in. So I hope the bugger (or pair of buggers) is safe from marauding children, reckless cyclists, community cats and what not.
Be safe, little ones!

In Africa we saw them, flying in front of our truck at night. Tose were called "pennant winged nightjar" and boy, was it spooky seeing them fly in the light of the headlights.

here's a picture of one.
Og,
That's too cool - the wingtips are awesome! But must've been a tad spooky to see them at night coming out of nowhere :)
Thanks for the link!
