Women as chattel

For some reason, the really radical Islamic factions seem to have a less-than-desirable view of women. Primarily, their worth as an individual deserving of respect.

Via the BBC, yet another shining example of how slow they are when it comes to women.

Don't get me wrong, I am the furthest you'll get to a bra-burning feminist. I'd be quite happy to give a back rub to my tired partner, or get him a drink when he gets home. I'd be quite happy to let him wear the pants in the house. I'd be quite happy to let my partner show his most primitive male side.

But (and this is a BIG but) he's qot to allow me to be the woman I want to be. All the above examples are offered as a physical manifestion of him allowing me to be the woman (or lady) am. There is a humongous difference between offering something, and having it expected out of you. The mentality - therein lies the difference.


Damn, I wonder how many more years it'll take them to catch up!
