Up up and away

It sucks to live along the equator.

I seem to have missed out on all the major astronomy affairs this year. I am going to keep my eyes peeled for
this one on Oct 30.

"On Sunday, October 30, the Red Planet will be 69.4 million kilometers (43.1 million miles) from Earth -- a distance that in galactic terms is less than wafer-thin and will not be equalled until 2018..... In the runup to Sunday, but also for much of November, Mars will appear as a big orangey-yellow "star" in the east, an object so bright that it should be visible in almost any conditions of light pollution, says the US publication Sky & Telescope."

I'm no rabid fan with expensive equipment. I don't have any, as a matter of fact. But I love that we can see beyond our planet. Every time I watch a scifi movie, I'm gibbering at the computer generated starscapes. I love scenes where there are multiple moons. During my evening/night walks last time, I frequently wished for multiple planet sunrises/sunsets.

But this will do for now.
