What are you hiding?

I firmly agree. I SO absolutely and definitely agree.

The Roman Catholic archdiocese of Los Angeles, the largest in the nation, lost a four-year legal fight on Monday to keep private the files of two priests accused of molesting children.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up the case, meaning that Cardinal Roger Mahony will have to hand over to Los Angeles prosecutors the records of all communications regarding the two priests.

The Los Angeles archdiocese has fought one of the most vigorous battle in the United States to prevent the files of priests accused of abuse from being made public.

Priests have a duty to the their communities. The Church has to protect it's flock, not the shepherds. This duty is implicit it it's docterines and teachings. Why should the bad hats be protected?

It's the same with any organisation - transparency. What have you got to hide? Aren't you supposed to be men of God? Why all this secrecy?

I know that if this ever erupted in Singgapore, even if I don't attend Mass anymore, I'd want to know what the Church is hiding. Don't make my already shaky faith in God's earthly arm become non-existant.

Out with it. Your faithful deserve to know.

You know the worst thing we pretty much already know what to expect when they read the files. We just wish deep down it is not true.

Peace

Exactly.
But I think the hiding is making it worse. It's shameful, insults the intelligence of your average church goer, and it glosses over the damage done to the children.

And THAT gets me all worked up :o
