Idle surfing, just home, waiting for my coffee to cool so I can sip it. Found this, which was a bit of a shocker. These are the people behind it. Poke are a creative company based in London. Our aim is to inspire people through interactive media.
We built this site because we wanted to challenge people's perception of their personal wealth. And while we're at it hopefully raise some money for a good cause.
And guess what? My meager (And I do mean meager) income as a serf puts me in the top 12% of the world's richest. I know it's just numbers. I know it may be manipulated, but we take for granted our internet access, out hot water, our cable, our comfy beds.
It's also humbling.
If I could, I'd shove this down a lot of our policyholders' throats. Like this man who complained about requesting for, and not receiving, a return self-address envelop. Just so he could send us his payment. For his CAR insurance.
Do you have any idea how expensive cars are in SG? Before you order a car, you bid for a certificate of entitlement, which at it's highest, was about SGD 65,000. Per cert. And only with this cert were you allowed to go out and purchase your vehicle. So make that about SGD 110K, just to buy a car. And this fucker is whinging about a frickin' 25 cent stamp.
There's a lot of people who need a slap up their head.
Natural introvert, learned extrovert.

Well I don't know but it said ,"I was in the top 2%. I think more like the top 2% sucker. I earn a decent wage but I aint in the top 2%. I have too much personal debt to be in the top 20% LOL :)
You are right though most of us in developed nations don't realise how bad others really have it. I guess we are to busy trying to get more of what we actually don't need.
Peace
