Outmoded and outdated.

This was an utterly, utterly disappointing read.

A Pentagon document classifies homosexuality as a mental disorder, decades after mental health experts abandoned that position.

The document outlines retirement or other discharge policies for service members with physical disabilities, and in a section on defects lists homosexuality alongside mental retardation and personality disorders.

..... The document, called a Defense Department Instruction, was condemned by medical professionals, members of Congress and other experts, including the American Psychiatric Association.

Homosexuality is not a "disorder", it's not a bane on civilisation, it's not a defect. it's not anything. It's just sexual orientation, and it doesn't made you a monster. Have always believed orientation is not something you can get a handle on. It's something that you are.

It's your choices in life that make you bad, evil, obnoxious, hypocritical, envious, jealous. People don't rob banks just because they're gay. People don't inflict harm on children just because they're lesbian. Just because I'm straight doesn't mean I can't understand.

Here's something I found that was so enlightening, which resonated so well within me. This woman is someone to respect.

Interviewed on CNN, Jefferts Schori was asked if it was a sin to be homosexual.

"I don't believe so. I believe that God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into this world with a different collection of things that challenge us and things that give us joy and allow us to bless the world around us," she said.

"Some people come into this world with affections ordered toward other people of the same gender and some people come into this world with affections directed at people of the other gender."

Jefferts Schori, by the way, is the newly elected bishop of the Diocese of Nevada, and is the first woman leader of the 2.3 million-member Episcopal Church in the US. That's the kind of tolerance and patience I'd like to see the the Roman Catholic church.


Ha! Not in my lifetime, unfortunately.
