Antsy dinner

Dinner was OK. Weather was great thought, and Changi Village, as usual, lifted my spirits as soon as we got there.

I don't know..... In this day and age of zip zip do-everything now now now, Changi Village holds a place dear to my heart. There are trees there older than I am; a miracle in this city of instant gardens.

Used to be like a little nugget of kampung life frozen from the 1970s. Used to be, because the authorities keep on meddling with the place. Build this fence. Construct new jetty building. Build new pavement. More carparks because people seem to like this place.

Yes! We liked it because it was old! Leave it be!

Anyways, dinner. Was very good. No pics, the dishes kept arriving with about 5 minutes in between so we ate whatever came first. But here's the main victim of the sweetNsour fish dish.

The best part?
After dinner I'd stepped out for a smoke. Stood in the lane behind the building. Same spot I had taken that clouds picture from. Was watching a fair sized black mongrel chasing motocycles. Generally having a good time grooving by myself when I felt a flurry of bites on my right foot.

Yup. Perfect. My slippered foot was about a foot from an ants nest and .... yes, they tried to have my foot for their dinner. Hopped around, provided much entertainment for the doggy. Finally had to call my parents from inside the eating place for a glass of hot water. I couldn't even touch my slipper! The leather looked alive! Hot water did the trick though. Got my damned slipper back.

From low-key and general relaxedness, to hopping drama, in 2 hours flat.
