Bernie and I were supposed to go off to the 1 Nite Stand Bar & Comedy Club. But, as if often the case, we both craved good food and solitude, instead of loud live music and a smokey bar.
(There must be something about having your oldest, bestest friend live near you. Or perhaps it's because we're so alike - 2 weeks between our bdays only. Or mebbe we're psychic! But this happens ALL to often. It's great! But I digress!)
We buggered off to Changi Village instead. And for Singapore's (practically) national dish.... chicken rice. Neighbourhood wars have been triggered between feuding hawker stall owners on whose chicken rice dish is better so yeah, it was great to indulge.
This is the stall along the main street in Changi Village. It's always packed with locals and UUummmmm...... the chicken rice is very very very good. Soft succulent chicken steamed Hainanese style, fragrant special rice, it's never going to go out of business. Never mind that is says Tiong Bahru. Trust me. It's in Changi Village.
Our order, just as we beginning to tuck in.
Don't be taken in by the fact that all 3 dishes have the same colour scheme. That's half a soft, juicy, super-fragrant chicken sitting on a pile of sliced cucumber and dripping with sauce; the beansprouts are stir-fried with garlic, onions, chives and ikan bilis; and that last dish on the right? Chicken feet in spicy thai chili. Some restaurants call it phoenix claws instead but whatever the name.... absolutely delicious!
Bernie won't let it go without taking a few shots of me now. With my own camera! Betrayed! lol. I've unleashed her vengeful side after snaping HER a gazillion times! There I was, hamming it up, when.... erm.... she took this hysterical shot. Orgasmic over food. Who would've thought, eh?
Was that the end? Nope. You couldn't let it rest, could you, babes?
Now we're all home, fed and watered. We'll talk about calories later.
