One of the reasons I always return to Changi V is the trees. Honking huge Angsana trees that the govt doesn't plant anymore. Which is a pity because these are gorgeous gorgeous trees.

Angsanas were planted throughout the island for a long time back in the 1960s and 1970s. The offered huge, gracious shady areas and were pleasing to eye. Until a fungus of sorts hit them and the trees died in great numbers. The restoration was just not cost effective enough, I suppose. The other thing was that the roots of Angsanas can become quite unruly, causing the pavements to buckle. So coupled with that, no more new Angsanas were ever planted.

But I love them. They give me such a peaceful feeling every time I'm near them. See this row? They're older than I am and they've been pruned, yes. But stunted? Never! :D It's one of the few places left with Angsanas that have been left to grow old gracefully.

We've found a new place to hang out, by the way. I LOVE the soya sauce chicken this place has. And their noodles are the old, traditional wan ton noodles. Yum yum yum! We ate, and as usual, ordered too much. lol.

If you get the chance to try their food, please do. The dumplings are excellent! And so is the roasted duck! And so are... well... almost everything else we've tried. haha. I don't know their name, I cannot read the mandarin characters, but they're next to the last coffeeshop just before you reach the hotel.

We ate until we were about to burst! See my face?


Yeah, when I get all silly, it's hard for Bernie not to try and laugh at me. Here she is, trying hard not to giggle.

I've just realised I've had a productive off day for once. First the interview, then a pigging out session which did NOT leave me stuffed to the brim. Heh. I'm improving!
