Moms. A necessary evil.

I've invited MBA over to dinner this Sunday.

My god, but the last time I had friends over was prolly about 10 years ago. In Singapore, it's easier to make a date, book a table, and go out. Food is cooked and served for you, you relax in a relaxed environment (or chic, happening place; whatever takes your fancy), and you don't have to worry about anything.

You show up, you eat drink and be merry, and then you go home contented.

Erm... so this Sunday should prove entertaining :o Perhaps I should have pizza on speed-dial in case my cooking skills have completed abandoned me?

I am planning to serve
- roast lamb (Mom's helping me with this!)
- salmon in a lemon/parsley sauce
- mushroom's sauteed with onions
- a shrimp salad
- devilled eggs
with baked potat
oes and lots and lots of salad, o'course. I'm also thinking of visiting that German butcher who hand-makes his sausages... hhhmmmm. Sausages!

There's only the 4 women. Think that'll be enough food? I haven't even started thinking of dessert :)

I THINK this is easy enough for me to handle. I also don't have much time, considering I'll be at work the night before. And I haven't cooked properly in..... yes, a decade, to boot. But that menu should be basic enough.

But that's not the problem. What? You're only having lamb? How can you ask your guests to come over and have only lamb? Yeah. Mom. Argh! Because I didn't want to impose on her, even though she offered to do more, she thinks that's all I'm serving.....

Sometimes, in my tumulteous childhood, I looked at my Mom and decided she was a prime example of how NOT to alienate your kids. lol. No, I don't have a close relationship with my mother. I very very rarely ask her of anything. The last time I asked her for help was when I was with the ShangriLa. And THAT was in 2004.

No worries, I'll be taking pictures. I might turn out to be a poster child for how not to abuse your friends through your cooking.....
