Banburee

Well, I'm all done.

The problem with amateur photographers like myself is that we take too many shots. We take, and take, and take, and in the end, we use only a small portion of decent pictures. Why? Because the rest turn out like crap, that's why. *wry grin* But I'm happy with what I have. The place I called home for a week was called
Banburee Resort & Spa on Koh Samui. Koh, in Thai, means island. And let me reassure you.... Thailand is abundantly blessed with gorgeous georgeous islands. Truly.

I chose to stay in the hotel building, instead of opting for the villas. Primarily? Because I'm a bloody scardy cat and I didn't want to be all THAT isolated in case I encounter weird bumps in the night :o Yes, I confess, I'm afraid of the dark and for good reason. But more about that another time.

The hotel building; I'm on the second floor right in the middle.

Not that the rooms weren't good. They were. Very large (44 sq/m) and comfortable. Clean! With a jacuzzi bathtub to boot! (Forgive my bad footage; I'd forgotten to pan s l o w l y...) Do note, though, that although the hotel counts itself as a 4 star, it's really not. Perhaps a decent 3-star would be more like it. Not that I minded at all!

And this was the view that greeted me each morning. To birdsong. Raucous loud birdsong. lol. Amazing. Here, the view from my balcony.... Hazy but that's the sea in the background.

The Villas are twice the size, with outdoor showers and the sea-facing one's are... hhmmmm.... well situated :) Perhaps on my next visit if I'm tavelling with company!

Oh, and due to the reflective coatings on the windows..... yeah, the view beyond my balcony. Heh.

By the way, the resort is built on a pretty steepish slope down towards the sea. Bugger! I wanted a holiday! Not an uphill climb back to my room each and every time! lol. Here, see for yourself.

Looked pretty at night too....

I have to share with y'all. Banburee is small. About 20 rooms and 10? 12? villas. And only one dining area. Heh. However, I wanted far from the madding crowd and I GOT it. I had the place to myself! Totally! Yes, it was off-peak... but I was cutting it close. In 2 weeks, Banburee will be fully booked with Russian tourists :o

At any rate, the dining area was called The Canna.

I was.... totally isolated. Phone didn't work due to some screwup with my service provider so I had to get a net card. And I laughed when I saw the set-up.

Yes, that's right. PCs out in the open air. All day. All night. In the heat and jumidity :o But I must say, all things considered, I had no problems connecting.

By the way, you guys have got to check out the keyboard. Thai and english characters. How cool is that? lol

Well well well. Good start to my holiday!

Wow, it looks like it was a blast! I hope you found SOMEONE to help you enjoy the scenery and that big bed....

Word verification: Preball. Is that before the Ball, or before balling? Nevermind.

Og,
no chance, alas. I had travelled alone and whilst I entertained the though of a holiday fling, it was never meant to be a serious intention :)
