Creative class 101

All contact centres have their own funny ways of motivation.

It's usually a stressful environment... all the little people working away in their tiny cubicles.... dealing with, half the time, demanding individuals.... the turn-over rate is extremely high, perhaps not as high as in the hospitality industry, but surely it ranks close.

At any rate, one of the things my centre does is "smile week", where they do all sorts of activities and shit. As part of the night shift team, we're horribly lucky to escape most of the activities. We escaped the scavenger hunt, the forced staff-meet-management buffet meal, the team building exerciese. But sometimes, we can't. Actually, we just hide away and let our poor, unlucky team leader do it on her own. haha. This time, though, she put her foot down. Primarily because she can't draw to save her life :)

We were supposed to design around the standard smiley face icon that represented Smile Week. And because the *other* girls can't draw either, I was forced to go it alone. Scavenged the whyteboard markers (those that worked) and off I went. Are you sure you want me to do this? No? Yes? Ok then!

May I present my masterpiece? Heh. Or perhaps not? *rolls eyes* You need to biggify to see the nose ring too; for that, we raided the pantry for silver foil. Good grief, the things we do for "work".

Some of the others were pretty good too.

And of course, some of the presentations were just... urgh... see for yourself.

A class of 10 year olds would do as well.....

And then this was the piece which won :o

Rather insipid, yes? The entire night shift team was... doh! This is IT? Sometimes I wonder what management deems as acceptable. Then again, after having been here some time, perhaps I do.....

No small wonder that I'm dying to leave then.
