Perspective

Tired, needed some entertainment before I dig in and do the minutes of our last "company" meeting (I think I need to do some prodding - nothing of note achieved this week and timeline's shrinking! argh! Another story, another time!).

Popped by
APOD, hoping to get lucky, and voila! prayers answered.

Each of those archs you see are huge. How huge? Think in terms of multiple times our planet's diameter. I've read about, and seen documentaries, on these corona loops and am always amazed by how insignificant our planet can be, compared to the giants that exist in our system alone. Let's not even talk about surrounding systems and galaxies. For the brief write-up on the pic, go

I've spent many an hour surfing from link to link. Good stuff!

It really does make you think about how small we are. I can't even fully comprehend the immense size of the corona loops in the picture, considering that they're hundreds of thousands of miles long. Great blog by the way!
