Scoring on all the right things

Well well well. This proves to be interesting.

My stay in Bophut, Samui is confirmed at
The Lodge. But before I tell you about this place, I just want to mention one thing :

I DO NOT encourage anyone to stay at
B1 Villa & Spa.

In my initial emailing, I was attended to by the wife, and I wasn't too sure about her. But in the end? Confirmed! Wife has a fucking attitude problem! Don't mouth the platitudes when you cannot hide your condescension!

For example, in one of her replies to me, she would say "in answer to your SPECIFIC question.. " Yes, I asked specifically if a smoker can stay at your hotel since your website plays up the fact that the rooms have some special air treatment thingie. So? What's the problem?

There were more words in cap. I found the whole thing curious but put it down down to a personality quirk. But when I wrote to them to inform her I could not stay due to the construction noise, she was VERY ungracious. I wished them well and said I would be back in 2010 but all she said was "We did not hold the room for you".

Wow. Guess she didn't like the fact that I was travelling alone. Or something pissed her off. Perhaps she didn't like my name? Perhaps she's generally a miserable, grumpy old cow? I don't know. Whatever.... things happen for a reason and it's good I'm not staying there after all!

In comparison, The Lodge was proven to be efficient, polite and the local manageress came across as SO MUCH more friendly. And she's local too boot. They only have 8 rooms and it's really a B&B, but I like the look of the place.

They're fully booked so my first three nights are in a normal room.

The other 3 nights are in the pent hut. lol. I love the sound of it. PENT HUT! There's something about the name that just makes me break into giggles. PENT HUT! lol

And hopefully, my view will really be like this.

All the rooms are beachfront, after all :o

Only down side is that the neighbouring place is a local - but supposedly world famous - music place called
Gecko Village. Any visitng DJ is encouraged to stop over for a night at the console. :o Sounds like the Samui equivalent of Zouk to me.

But... the place is in the thick of things, I can wander around all day by myself, and I STILL wake up to the sound of waves. And I like the fact that it's a B&B. There are some awesome hotels in Bophut itself and I even got a testimonial about one (Thanks G!) but.... I cannot bring myelf to pay 6-10 times more for a beachfront location. Plus you won't get the same level of intimacy. Plus big hotels have so little character. Plus the food usually isn't as great. I am really beginning to like the small ones. Strange, no?

Anyways. Soon. HOLIDAY! Can't wait!

PS I forgot to tell you The Lodge doesn't accept credit cards. :o The only thing paid by card is my flight tixs.

I feel... strange :)) This is going to be interesting!

You really should write it up in the reviews. As a traveller, i would definitely feel it if my host was far from the mostest.

Liz,
I'll come back and post'em all!!

The Sister,
I intend to walk past B1 and see the construction for myself. THEN I'll post reviews of the horrible woman's attitude.

Eric,
Instead of doing a month in europe, perhaps you and the missus can do a tour of south east asia :))
